Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3, Battle at Winterfell Review, Recap and Honest Reaction (Spoilers)

This Sunday night, the episode Battle at Winterfell premiered on HBO. I’d like to chat about it.

If you haven’t seen the Battle of Winterfell episode please go back and watch at this blog is full of spoilers. You’ve been warned.

Game of Thrones - Episode 3

Please tell me you saw, last night’s episode of Game of Thrones?!? Well, if you didn’t, please watch that first and then come back.

First of all, can we talk about how dark the episode was. Yes, both. Dark as in physically, the picture on the screen was hard to see. It remembered of the OG episodes of Buffy which were so dark you couldn’t tell if she was in a cemetery or the Bronze. And also, dark as in the subject in this episode was dark. Lots of death, big bad is coming, yadda yadda. Or was it just me? Please chime in, I’m really curious.

*^*%^&*(%^&%*^&%*^(*%^&)(#*$)(#$*%&^^*&*$%^&)#*$%&]

Please forgive me, I might have just had a seizure during this episode. Effing Ayra Mother Effing STARK! What an effing BADASS! She was a ninja, badass, warrior princess the entire episode.

I know this might be a bold statement but Ayra killing the Night King might have been one of the most surprising moments in television to happen in a very long time.

Even though, Ayra Stark killing the Night King was EPIC! I have two other favorite parts of this episode.

  1. Theon freaking Greyjoy. When Bran told Theon that he was a good man. I got chill. I got happy. And then I thought “well fuck he’s going to die, mother fucker.” I feel like Theon had serious internal demons. And he tried so hard to redeem himself. His guilt for all the terrible things he’s done in his life ate at him. I think, in the end, he seriously redeemed himself well before sacrificing himself.
  2. Sansa and Tyrion moments. You know so much has happened in this series, I almost forgot they were married. She’s been married twice actually. I love Tyrion. I think he’s honorable and funny and has been dealt a shit hand in life. I think Sansa too as been dealt a shit hand in life. But their moments down in the crypt as the battles roars on above them is lovely. You know what, I’m adding one more favorite moment of the night’s episode.
  3.  Let’s give it up to the women of this episode. Khaleesi who can’t find if not on her dragons. But the Queen of the Andals learned to wield the sword real quick. Ayra for killing the Night Queen. Sansa for realizing she’s useless AND for having a come to Jesus moment for Tyrion. And Lady Brienne of Tarth for being the kickass fighter that she is, amazing and for saving Jamie’s life time and time again. Also, Melysandra, who lit the fire around Winterfell. She also predicted Ayra would close different color eyes included blue ones.

I absolutely loved the unpredictability of this episode.

And with all that, the Night King is dead. Now what? Now it’s the Battle of North vs South. Cersei vs Daenerys (or really John Snow).

One question, the Night King touched Arya before she killed him. Does she get all weird and three eyed raven like as well? And does Bran get all un-three eye raven like now that Night King is dead? So many questions.

What are your thoughts on the episode? Do you feel the same way about Theon or the female characters? Did you like the episode? Let me know in the comments below. Like if you enjoyed this read and if you want me to write more Game of Thrones recaps.

Have a lovely rest of your day!
