I’ve been going to Disney World since I was a tiny me. Maybe for over 30 years now or close to. That’s 30 years worth of Disney magic and Disney experiences. I’ve seen rides come and I’ve seen rides go. RIP If You Had Wings/Delta Dream Flight/Take Flight, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, goodbye powder hand soap, oh Body Wars, The Great Movie Ride, Ellen’s Energy Adventure, Studio Backlot Tour, The Living Seas and one of my faves Horizon which had me smelling oranges for days afterward with a big ol’ smile on my face.

Throughout all the years, one ride, one solitary ride remains my favorite, Spaceship Earth in Epcot. It’s indoor, sit down, chill ride through time with AC (on most days). Oh man I remember that one time Spaceship Earth had no AV.  You go up, down, backwards and forward. It’s slow. Suitable for all riders (young, old and those who don’t ride fast rides). It’s not scary. Nothing pops out at you. It’s a calm ride with lots of animetronics.

It’s a lengthy ride. The ride lasts about 15 minutes. When the rides ends, you are droped off in an interactive area where there are tons of pods to play games and have a little futuristic fun before you continue your Epcot journey.

The attraction line used to be mad short and go really fast. The last couple of trips to Epcot the lines have been MAD LONG! I think we stood in line for over 45 minutes. Only because I couldn’t go to Epcot and NOT ride Spaceship Earth. Even though my boyfriend and mom could do with out.

Rumors have it, Spaceship Earth will be temporarily closing to do some serious ravamping, possibly install new tracks and new attractions. According to WDW News Today the ride is due to close from 2020 – 2022 (about 2 and half years). Scheduled to reopen right in time for Epcot’s 40th Anniversary.

This makes me sad that Spaceship Earth is scheduled to be closed so soon and for so long. But I’m really excited to see what they come up with. Should be awesome.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my rant on Spaceship Earth. Unless next time, having a magical day! Mel
