Rock Chick book 1 by Kristen Ashley review by Mel

Time to go back to my roots and review a romance novel. I’m not even sure anyone realizes that’s how I started this blog. By reviewing romance novels. Hence the title of this blog, 1 million pages letter. I guesstimated that by the time I had started this blog, I had read over a million pages of books by this point. So, I thought myself an expert of reading and I felt qualified, only after reading 1 million pages, would I be able to review them. Hopefully that makes sense, it made sense to me at the time. lol

I haven’t read a romance novel in a very long time. Maybe about a year, since meeting my boyfriend. I really didn’t need a romance novel since I had romance in my life. That was nice. BUT in 48 hours, I read the first installment of the Kristen Ally’s Rock Chick series. Recommended to me by a co-worker who would mildly scold me for giving up reading. And insisted my boyfriend would like that I read romance novels more as they are romantic but more a little dirty. That’s a theory for another blog. Thank you Jerry, you’re the bomb!

It’s SOOOO good to read again. I didn’t realize how much I missed reading. And just how amazing it feels to the warm and fuzzies for fictional characters. To fall in love with them and their story. And what a story the first book of the Rock Chick series is.

We find ourselves with India “Indy” and Liam “Lee”. Of course Lee is a badass and Indy is an over dramatic girl that’s trapped in her head. I can relate. Their story is intertwined. They’ve been involved in each others lives forever. Their families are friends. Indy is biffles with Lee’s sister.

We also soon find out that Indy has been in love with Lee since she was 5. Which is effing adoreable. I love that. It’s so difficult to NOT be a hopeless romantic if you are reading romance novels.

At the beginning of this novel we encounter some scary stuff. Some scary bullet stuff. And of course, as a proper hero, Lee steps in to save the day. And I’m totally ok with that.

We, as readers, go through a very emotional, dramatic series of events that could easily been predicted (as a reader) and prevented (as a writer- there were other ways to do some stuff). I won’t give too much away as I review it but just know it’s worth the read. HOWEVER, be prepared, this is a series. This is only book #1 of  8 books (9 if you count the last one was part of the 1001 Nights). With that being said, I’m glad I read this book, it’s almost brought my love of reading back to life.

All in all, this book was HOT AF and makes me want to continue reading the rest of the series. I think you might like it too. I’ve added the link below to the amazon/kindle store if you’d like more information on this book or series.
