Adored: A Masters and Mercenaries Novella (1001 Dark Nights) by Lexi Blake review by Mel
Today I’m reviewing Adored: A Masters and Mercenaries Novella (1001 Dark Nights). This book features Mitch Bradford, ruthless attorney with a kink and Laurel Daley (sister to Dr. Will Daly from Lexi Blake’s Cherished book AND my previous post), she’s younger than Mitch which has him still wanting her but knowing that he shouldn’t.
Ah the internal struggle was so real in this one. Mitch battles himself insistently with wanting and not wanting to want his… Oh wait. I didn’t mention this did I? Dr. Will is Mitch’s best friend!!! OH yeah buddy. So not only does he think she’s way too young for him but he’s struggling with the fact that the object of his affection (not entirely accurate) is his best friend’s little sister!
Laurel is determined. She knows what she wants. And she wants it now. She’s a little manipulator that one but she’s lovable really. She’s sweet and kind and just wants to be loved by Mitch who she pretty much thinks shits rainbows.
I feel this is a slightly darker book. Mitch is a bit broody, more in his head, not as likable as the other Dom in this series… at first. As the story progresses that changes and you’d like to be the one who he dominates instead of Laurel.
Loving that not all Lexi’s Doms are the same. They all have their own personalities, jobs, ideas… it’s just refreshing. I don’t feel like I’m reading the same book with different character names as I have in other series. Good going Lexi Blake!
Have I mentioned that I love this series? It is brilliant and awesome and sexy and just plain amazing. The writing is really good. Well, uhm, actually I’ll be honest, the novella’s grammar and spelling is a little off. Just a little. Not enough to disrupt from the story just a tad bit distracting. Sorry. Honest but true. Obvs, I am not the best writer with grammar and spelling errors all over the place BUT I’m not a paid writer (yet… Universe I’d like to be a paid writer one day).
So I’m so stoked. I thought I was finished with this series as I thought there weren’t anymore books for me the read until the next book comes out on June 12th… Dominance Never Dies (Masters and Mercenaries Book 11) BUT I just downloaded Dungeon Games: Masters and Mercenaries, a part of the 1001Dark Nights series.
I’m off to read! Hope you’ve enjoyed. I’ll be back soon with another post of next Masters & Mercenaries book.
Happy reading,
Mel
ps- Is there another series you’d recommend?? As I’m sure I’ve surely to run out of new books to read in this series soon after the Dominance Never Dies comes out in a few days. I’ll be done with the Dungeon Games in a few days and then I’ll just wait a little bit for June 12th to roll on by. Let me know if you all have a series you’d recommend??
